Do we understand well the expiry dates on the labels?

Many people are unaware of the indications that appear on the packages and misread what is written. Let's find out the differences between:

Consume By – It is not safe to consume these foods after the deadline. This indication appears in foods such as: fresh cheese, cream cheese, eggs, fresh pasta, etc.

Consume Preferably Before – Indicates the date until which the food has the best quality. It may be safe to consume after the expiration date as long as it passes the test of the senses: look, smell and taste. If the food passes this assessment, it means that it can be consumed without risk to health. Some examples of foods that carry this mention: matured cheeses, biscuits, rice and cereals.
